Description
This is a distinctive Zhaocai Rat walnut pair, originally known as Nine-Layer Pagoda, a niche variety within the tall-stump Chicken Heart walnut family.
The walnuts feature the signature tall, slender profile with pointed crowns, rounded bellies, and a stable flat base. The deep, layered texture creates a striking flame-like pattern, with some areas showing intricate spiral and coral-like details.
The texture is exceptionally deep and strongly layered, giving the surface remarkable three-dimensional depth and visual character. The dense material provides a substantial hand-feel and a crisp sound when gently tapped.
The pair has been surface-cleaned, with the tips refined and lightly reshaped to improve their overall form and appearance. The natural body structure and deep layered texture have been preserved.
With regular play, the walnuts gradually develop a rich Oxford-red to deep red patina, with the surface becoming smoother, brighter, and increasingly translucent over time.
